Who is working on this project?
This project is a dissertation (work in progress) by Michael Paul Killian, lead by Prof. Dr. med. Dr. sci. nat. Jana Pachlopnik Schmid and supervised by Dr. med. Dr. sci. nat. Andrea A. Mauracher, with contributions by Katri Eskola MScN RN PCCN.
What is it about?
Its aim is to provide an overview of all published cases with:
- a primary immunodeficiency (PID, an inborn error of immunity), confirmed by genetic analysis
- an infection leading to a fatal outcome (either directly or due to a complication)
- one or more specified infectious agent(s)
The ultimate goal is to gain a better understanding of critical genes related to the immune system and their role in decreasing the susceptibility to complicated infections.
How are you working?
We are working systematically through the available literature to provide a well-organized summary. The method is related to traditional systematic reviews,
but with a distinct focus on summarizing all available data, rather than making a recommendation for or against a particular decision.
It can be considered a systematic mapping review. More background on our method considerations can be read in this master thesis.
What can I do?
Collaborators can use this site to collaborate on the various steps involved in the review. Others may browse through our data without write access to the data.

Full text evaluation, 2nd round
In this view, the evaluation of inclusion and exclusion criteria, as well as the collection of data about each article is made. In the first round, only minimal
data was collected about each article, giving one freetext field to document the reason for exclusion. In the second round, the decision is documented more systematically.
Collaborators: Michael and Katri
Consolidation review
This view is for Jana and Andrea to make a final decision for each article that was not consistently included or excluded in both rounds. Input is limited to a decision
("include article", "exclude article" or "not sure yet") and a text-field for clarifications if needed.
